POSITION SUMMARY: The Narrative Power Coordinator fills a critical day-to-day role by helping shape how the organization thinks and speaks about social, cultural, and political issues impacting our communities. This role requires a communications professional who understands the cultural impact and possibilities of effective storytelling, partnered with a knowledge of communication strategy, implementation, and best practice. The Narrative Power Coordinator will also assist with communications-related and external-facing activities across the organization. The Coordinator’s role is to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of organizational communications and implementation of strategy that is unified across departments. This position will ensure on a day-to-day basis that the content for social media, our website, and more, is up to date, accurate, and meets organizational branding and mission alignment standards and expectations.

 

 


 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support  the short and long-term goals of the narrative vision and strategy of New Voices, as well as connect the Narrative Power Department to other departments by strategizing and collaborating with key staff across the organization for the purpose of planning and information gathering.

  • Provide administrative support including regular monitoring of cultural, social, and political trends and current events to enhance organizational programming and messaging and connect to larger, recurring themes. 

  • Maintain tracking and evaluation activities for New Voices overall messaging and storytelling as well as measure narrative shift of key issue areas. 

  • Translate verbal or written direction into high-quality graphic design within the New Voices brand including social media graphics, flyers, presentations, and more as well as maintain working knowledge of design and social media trends, memes, and current events.

  • Assist in the coordination and impact evaluation of fundraising events, appeals, and projects.

  • Write, proofread, and edit copy as directed for social media, email newsletters, grants, web copy, and printed materials, as well as support press content and outreach as directed.

  • Enhance New Voices social media content including through organization channels such as Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube. 

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Narrative Power Manager 










 


 

 

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A combination of education and experience in communication, marketing, graphic design, nonprofit management, English/literature.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant coursework such as copywriting, professional writing, social media management, or graphic design.

  • Experience in the day-to-day maintenance and analysis of social media and email marketing.

  • Exceptional innovative content creation skills and writing skills.

  • Proven experience with communication and external relations with a solid portfolio.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including experience with internal and external creation and presentation. 

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills 

  • Ability to write content for a variety of projects including social media posts, email marketing, grant writing, and more.

  • Knowledge of various communication platforms such as HootSuite, MuckRack, Canva, iMovie, Adobe Creative Suite, or relevant related platforms.

  • Excellent skills in the use of online meeting apps especially Zoom and Google Meets.

 

 


 

 

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Affirms the core principles of the Reproductive Justice and Human Rights framework for Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people.

  • Understanding of activism and movement-based trends in social media including current events and trending hashtags.

  • Ability to learn about and discuss Reproductive Justice and the health and well-being of Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized individuals.

  • Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, optimism, positivity, and the ability to inspire others to engage with New Voices.

  • Photography and/or videography experience is a plus.

 

 SALARY RANGE: $42,000-$47,000
